Internet Of Things (IOT)

Have you ever wonder that what would happened that all the electronic devices are connected with each other with connection of internet?

Internet Of Things(IOT) was coined by Kelvin Ashton in 1999, co-founder of MIT’s Auto-ID Lab. It is the system of system. He started Zensi, a company that develops energy sensing-chain and monitoring technology.

Anything that can be connected will be connected.

Internet of Things (IOT) is now becoming a growing topic. It has the potential to impact how we live but also how we work. It is the network of physical devices which is connected with the Internet, collecting and sharing of data.

“The Internet of Things is not a concept; it is a network, the true technology-enabled Network of all networks.” – Edewede Oriwoh

IOT is simply connecting all the smart devices surrounded to the internet and it uses sensors and another small chip that responds to the sensed activity which is sensed by sensors to communicate with each other across the internet. It could be anything like smart phone, smart TV or smart bulb, these are connected and controlled by the internet. IOT is a biggest network of connected things which also includes people and things.

We need to get smarter about hardware and software innovation in order to get the most value from the emerging Internet of Things.” – Henry Samueli

For example: If accident occurs in a road then the nearest sensor will monitor and sends alert to the nearest hospital and to the nearest traffic control. With this hospital can help on casualty area. And traffic control can display message to avoid that area to general people.

“As the Internet of things advances, the very notion of a clear dividing line between reality and virtual reality becomes blurred, sometimes in creative ways.” – Geoff Mulgan

Just Imagine

The new technology for the future is going to be changed. Suppose you are on the way to your work and you are stuck on heavy traffic; and your vehicle sends the message to your office automatically. How it would be just imagine. What if your alarm wakes up you and notifies your coffee maker to brew coffee for you automatically and notifies about stock of materials in the refrigerator. In the future , things will talk to us and ofcourse each other for making our life easier.

IOT also can be applied to things like “Smart City” which helps us to reduce the waste and improve the efficiency. It allows for virtually endless opportunities and connections to take place, almost of then we cannot even think of it. On this Security is a big issue, with a billions of devices being connected with each other, what make the information can secure? This will bring out large benefit and challenges as well.

The main challenge for making this come true is finding a way to connect many technology in one network. Before the device is connect it must be in common language, a set of design rules. If we had computers that knew everything there should be known using data they gathered without any help from us. We would be able to track and count everything and greatly reduce waste, loss and cost. IOT offers the opportunity to be more efficient in how we do things, saving the time and money.

Building Blocks of IOT

-Sensors

It will sniff a wide variety of information ranging from location, weather etc. It will identify the changes of that particular thing used on IOT.

Gateways

It connects End nodes to the network. It help to bridge the internal network of sensor nodes with external internet by collecting the data from sensor nodes and transmitting it to the internet.

End Device Mobile Apps

It is an essential part of IOT. It collects data and performs ground level processing like Temperature sensors at home and cameras at roads. The intuitive mobile apps will help end user to control and monitor the devices from the remote locations.

Connectivity

IOT is a network system, connectivity is essential. Like Bluetooth or Wi-Fi

Cloud based application and storage

The work of cloud based is application is to compute the data and analyze it and make predictions  The data transmitted through gate way is stored and processed securely within the cloud infrastructure.
